On page 439 Mr. Curtain tells Reynie that "his friends session was unsuccessful," what does he mean?

Kate heard a honking noise but it was an emergency message in Morse code being sent by the Mysterious Benedict Society's members on the mainland. When Mr. Curtain told Reynie that his friend's session was unsuccessful, he meant that Kate and Constance got captured when they were trying to get to the Whispering Gallery.
Kate heard a honking noise then after aminute of wondering she guessed it was morse code.M.r Curtain knew that the whisper cant be fooled.
It took her about a minute to relize that is was actually morse code.
Kate herd this annoying sound that sounded like beeps.But it was a morse code sent by people in the Mysterious Benedict Society.When Mr.Curtain said that he meant that his friends were cought.
